SOUTH PETHERTON, U.K. - June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- The launch of Fruitnet.com, a new fully functional website for the global fresh produce business, spearheads business publisher Marketing Intelligence’s adoption of a new digital strategy, handled by web design and development agency Evosite.

The new web portal is focused on account and subscription management, with conversions at the core of the site. Evosite has designed a site that enables online industry publishing portal Fruitnet.com to serve its readership even better.

Evosite is currently working on Phase II of the digital strategy, a fully functional mobile site for smartphone readers, scheduled to launch in the coming months.

Evosite was tasked with building a web portal to bring together six of the world’s premier fresh produce magazines - Eurofruit, Asiafruit, Americafruit, Fresh Produce Journal, Fresh Convenience and Produce Plus - in a single, seamless, web experience hosted at Fruitnet.com. Previously the titles were represented by two websites that rendered the brands practically anonymous online.

Evosite has created a web offering for Fruitnet.com that provides a feature-rich news and events portal, with elegant PDF downloads of more than 43,000 articles, integrated social media links and article commenting, all delivered in stunning fashion to more than 54,000 subscribers.

Sitting behind the web portal is a wealth of management tools and functions handled through the EvoCMS administration system. Together they enable Fruitnet.com to generate mailing house lists, tailor subscriptions to individual customers, and allow for site advertising and newsletter creation.

Mike Knowles, Managing Editor at Market Intelligence, says, “From the start we were reassured by Evosite’s ability to understand a highly unusual and challenging website project. In effect, we wanted to build six websites linked to a single content management system. We needed to pre-load it with tens of thousands of articles, plus a similar number of images, from two databases, whilst preserving every single article's web address as well as its individual meta-data, such as author, product, country and topic tags.

“We also needed our magazines to connect better with their subscribers, so that meant allowing visitors to share any story or image on an array of social networks.”

He adds, “The Evosite team could deliver everything we were asking for. They were able to draw on a good knowledge of best practice in online publishing design, and were equipped to cope with the various database-related complications that inevitably came their way.”

On a commercial level, the new Fruitnet.com website had to provide a means to make the most of the growing interest in digital news publishing within the fresh produce industry. It presented a great opportunity to establish new sources of revenue, from subscriptions and banner advertising.  Evosite was able to create a dependable e-commerce system as well as expand the range of options available to Fruitnet.com in terms of online advertising spaces.

James Shakespeare, Managing Director of Evosite, says, “The solution we have built for Fruitnet.com is truly global, just like their business.”
