Two Teams Tie For First Place At TYE Finals In Washington DC

 
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- TiE Vancouver’s Care 4 Mankind and TiE Chennai’s Prathipad Healthcare tied for First Place at the 2013 Global Business Plan Competition, hosted at George Mason University on Saturday, June 15th and Sunday, June 16th.  Each team received $5,000 in prize money and a First Place trophy.

TiE Vancouver’s Care 4 Mankind developed Kaya Life, which is a non-invasive glucose-monitoring system for diabetics that incorporates a sensor, a wristband, a smartphone application, and a website.  TiE Chennai, on the other hand, created Prathipad Healthcare, which makes all necessary arrangements for international patients to receive world-class medical treatment in India.

TiE Seattle’s EcoBoard got Second Place, while TiE Boston’s Aajit Power took home Third Place as well as the top prize for the separate 1-Minute Elevator Pitch Competition, held at the Awards Banquet on Sunday, June 16th, at The Mason Inn.  The TYE Judges also offered special recognition to TiE Ohio’s En Kephalos Science Journal for the “Best Idea to Foster STEM Education”, and TiE Ahmedabad’s AquaVita Ventures for the idea with the “Best Social Impact”.

The TYE 2013 Global Business Plan Competition, sponsored by Sanjay Govil and Infinite Computer Solutions, featured 16 teams comprised of the brightest high school minds around the world. Each team represented their local TiE Chapter, and got a chance to pitch their business plan idea to a panel of judges in an attempt to be the TYE Global winner.

Participating Chapters included: Washington DC, Seattle, Ohio, Atlanta, Detroit, Ahmedabad, UP, Chennai, UK, Dallas, UK North, Vancouver, Delhi, Boston, Hubli, and Austin.

The TYE Judges included: Ashoka Tankala, Senior VP of Infinite Computer Solutions, Charalampos “Babis” Papadopoulos, 1st Secretary, Economy & Commerce for the Embassy of Greece, Dev Ganesan, President/CEO for Aptara, Navneet Chugh, Founder of The Chugh Firm, APC, and Anil Kappa, Founder of Einsteins Alley Group.

Evan Burfield, Chairman of Startup DC, and Natwar M. Gandhi, CFO of the District of Columbia Government, delivered inspiring speeches at the awards banquet, which also featured speeches from PV Boccasam, TiE DC President, Geetha Ramamurthy, TYE Global Chair, PK Agarwal, CEO of TiE Global, and Dolly Oberoi, CEO of C2 Technologies, Inc. and TiE Global Trustee.

The TiE Young Entrepreneur (TYE) Program is a one-of-a-kind entrepreneur program focused on empowering teenagers with leadership skills and business basics. The powerful curriculum delivers the essentials of business management in a simple manner by lecturers who are business leaders themselves.
