Guest speakers included Dr. Aletha Maybank and Mercedes Gonzales.
By: Kechie's Project Kechie's Project, in partnership with Bread and Roses High School principal Dr. Rodney Lofton and the SAPIS Counselor Ms. Emma Thomas, provide monthly cultural workshops and guest speakers from inside and beyond the local community to visit the multicultural group culmination this year in a successful and entertaining three part Fashion Runway Gala with clothing provided by Brooks Brothers, Kristi Vosbeck Designs, and designer Aso Damisi. Guest Speakers included NYC Assistant Health Commissioner Dr. Aletha Maybank, and Fashion Consultant Mercedes Gonzales. Singers Greg Banks and Rafiya performed their solo compositions and the event was hosted by Eren T. Gibson. School performances included recitals of written compositions by the Bread and Roses School Members. Kechie’s Project is a unique nonprofit organization specifically focused on empowering underprivileged girls and providing them with educational resources. This takes place in both Nigeria and in the United States as well. Donations to Kechie’s Project provide direct financial support and resources to two schools in Nigeria and the organization also provides cultural awareness programs in New York City Schools. Kechie’s Project is dedicated to direct involvement with minimal administrative costs. This focused approach benefits selected children enabling their growth and providing them with future opportunity. The result is a positive effect on their community and our world community.
