With more than 20 years of communication and professional training experience, Barria joins as executive communications coach and instructor for Speakeasy’s core three-day style program. Barria brings a dynamic and energetic array of coaching techniques to the classroom. His main focus will be training mid- and senior-level executives, both in New York and abroad, to optimize communications and maintain its consistency across cultures. Prior to joining Speakeasy, Barria held various communications and sales training roles at companies like Schurz Communications, AJC Media Solutions, Incomm Holdings and General Electric. Barria, who is bilingual in Spanish and English, was awarded the “Kentucky Ambassador of Good Will” certificate for integral involvement with the American International Relations Club that promoted multicultural understanding. He holds a master training program certificate from the American Society for Training and Development, an M.B.A. from Bellarmine University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Louisville, which he obtained via a Fulbright Scholarship. “Throughout my career, I have had various interests ranging from sales training to international business,” says Barria. “Speakeasy is the first firm I have found that embodies every one of my passions. I am pleased to join this growing communications consultancy.” Falkenstern joins as an instructor of Speakeasy’s core style impact programs. With a Master of Science in speech-language pathology from MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from Syracuse University, Falkenstern brings quality communication techniques to the classroom. Her experiences as a freelance accent and dialect voice coach, and as a speech-language pathologist at AHRC NY, have armed her with unique approaches to improve voice, movement and communication for people of all ages. Falkenstern is a member of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association and a clinically certified speech pathologist with the American Speech and Hearing Association, licensed in New York and California. “This new role allows me to help shape the communications styles of the world’s business leaders,” says Falkenstern. “I’m looking forward to adding my experience to the team and help each client grow in their communications journey.” The two new hires will help facilitate the strides Speakeasy is making to expand the frequency of classes at its New York learning environment and also aid in the growing international market. “As we continue to provide strategic communications counsel, it is critical that we also hire the best instructors in the industry.
