After a recent article by a leading consumer newsgroup, Carhire.co.uk details its biggest cause for confusion amongst users.

June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Carhire.co.uk confirms that it has experienced confused customers looking to rent vehicles.

After a recent article by Which? relating to car hire complaints and hidden charges, online rental comparison website Carhire.co.uk has advised that it often has travelers on the phone confused by the various different charges and terms.

A spokesmen for the car hire [http://www.carhire.co.uk] company commented: “the biggest cause for confusion in pre-booking a rental is probably the use of credit cards for deposit, followed by the insurance excess and fuel conditions.”

“We often have travelers on the phone stating they have no credit card or the partner has a credit card but won’t be driving. Typically the rental providers require a credit card in the lead drivers name to pre-authorise funds for the deposits, without this they could refuse to rent a vehicle which we have experienced in certain instances.”

(The above depends on the specific rental terms and conditions).

The spokesmen continued: “There can be a lot of terms and conditions on a vehicle rental and it can become confusing, especially when things such as one way travel is to be included or out of office pickups and drop offs apply. Take for instance the one way rental fees, these are included as an extra payable locally to the rental providers (when picking up the vehicle) which means they are not included in the initial rental prices. Whilst a regular renter may know these fees apply and look out for them, for the holiday traveler who perhaps rents a vehicle once every couple of years they may not realize these fees exist.”

The company exampled a one way rental between Heathrow [http://www.carhire.co.uk/car-hire/heathrow.htm] and Gatwick [http://www.carhire.co.uk/car-hire/gatwick.htm].

The initial hire car cost was £29.00 per the one day, perfect if you need to connect a cheaper return flight at Gatwick to the original departure airport of Heathrow. However, the one way rental fee applied is £55.00, whilst the fee is displayed in a summary panel before continuing with an order on one of the webs leading rental suppliers it makes that £29.00 connection £84.00.
