She Still Remembers A Time Before Electricity

Internationally Recognized Food Blogger, Mia Reiter, Fuses Rustic Recipes with Modern Ideals in Her Upcoming Book, “Rustic Modern Cuisine”.

SAN ANTONIO - June 17, 2013 - PRLog -- San Antonio, Texas  — With thousands of followers on Facebook and almost a million visitors to her popular "Real Food" blog, Mia’s Domain, Mia Reiter has finally announced the launch of a new book project that’s been in development for over two years.  Recently chosen as a “Staff Pick” by Kickstarter.com, Rustic Modern Cuisine is a fusion between rustic food recipes and modern ideals.

When asked about her humble beginnings on the South Pacific Island of Tonga, she reminisces about the simple, happy times before her family had electricity.  She speaks of a time of horse drawn carts, before phones, tap water, indoor plumbing, refrigerators, freezers, microwave ovens, or even stoves.

"There was no such thing as 'slow food' - because there was no such thing as fast food! There was only one kind of food: Real Food. What you saw and held in your hand was exactly what it looked like, so why would you need further explanation?"

Organic, Natural, Wild, Free Range, Grass-fed, Pastured, Heirloom, Artisan, Fresh, Local, Non-GMO, No MSG, Artificial Sweeteners, Colors, Flavorings, or Preservatives: These are all modern terms to define food that is closest to the simple, "unrefined" way things once were: Rustic Food.

In America, there is a surging movement to not only reach back to the authenticity of the past, but to further improve food quality, preparing ever more enlightened and contemporary dishes: Rustic Modern Cuisine.

Having since lived in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, Mia has now lived in the US for over a decade and currently resides in the Texas Hill Country between Austin and San Antonio.  As much as she’s enjoyed living in America, she came to realize she could no longer take what she ate for granted.

For her own health and the health of her family, she not only felt it necessary to revisit her roots, but further immerse herself in the modern culinary ideals and practices that brought her closer to the purity of food she experienced in her youth - and now she’d like to share this blend of recipes, ideals, and pertinent information in her upcoming book.

“Real food is not a novelty or trend for me - it’s my native language... - Mia
