How will the UK keep the lights on, meet renewables targets & keep energy affordable

By: The Economist UK Energy Summit

June 17, 2013 - PRLog -- London, 17th June, 2013 - Over the next 12 months, the UK’s energy market will face its biggest shake-up in over 20 years. At this crucial time, The Economist’s UK Energy Summit, will examine if the Energy Bill’s reforms – expected to be finalised by the end of 2013 – are on track to achieve their objective of lowering carbon emissions, getting bills under control and positioning the UK as an attractive investment location.

Voices from across the sector including MPs, regulators, energy suppliers, consumer organisations, campaigners and investors, will be represented at the summit to debate if the correct decisions are being made for UK consumers, energy security, the environment and the economy. There isn’t much time left to get it right and summit discussions will focus on recommendations and solutions.

Hear from experts including:

•     Roger Harrabin, Energy and Environment Analyst, BBC

•     Rt Hon Edward Davey MP, Secretary of State, Department of Energy and Climate

•     Nick Molho, Head of Energy Policy, WWF-UK

•     Dr Tony Cocker, Chief Executive Officer, E.ON UK

•     Audrey Gallacher, Director of Energy, Consumer Focus

•     Derek Lickorish, Chairman, Fuel Poverty Advisory Group

John Lynch, Managing Director, Head of Power, Utilities and Renewables for EMEA, Bank of America Merrill Lynch says: "We’re delighted to continue our support of The Economist UK Energy Summit.  For us it’s a great opportunity to join the debate about the industry challenges ahead, alongside leading market participants and policy makers.  Of particular interest to us is how the UK is transitioning its energy market and how it will attract the capital needed to meet its 2020 targets.”
