His Holiness the Dalai Lama meets his match in Sydney

MUMBAI, India - June 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Sydney, 14th June 2013 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama has today met his Madame Tussauds wax double during the second day of his visit to Sydney. This is one of seven wax figures that can be found around the world at Madame Tussauds attractions.

Upon meeting his wax figure for the first time in Sydney, His Holiness was asked if he thought his wax figure portrayed him accurately, to which he replied, “I think quite similar…the only difference is this (pointing to himself) can speak, and this (pointing to the wax figure) cannot”.

After an initial sitting on 15th May 1993 in London, His Holiness has been portrayed by Madame Tussauds at various points in his life, with the Sydney figure portraying him from 2010.

His Holiness, who is nearing 78 years of age, is at the start of a 10-day visit to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Darwin.  Revered worldwide as a humanitarian and inspirational teacher, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a recipient of the Templeton Prize www.templetonprize.org/news.html, he is a Congressional Gold Medal recipient www.cmohs.org and was also awarded the Nobel Peace in 1989 www.nobelprize.org/.
