Tripleblaze.com Announces the Top 10 Campgrounds in Texas

June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- To kick off the 2013 camping season, Tripleblaze.com has officially released a list of the top 10 campgrounds in the state of Texas, including one campground--Double Lake Recreation Area--that is also one of the 10 most popular in the nation. The Tripleblaze best campgrounds list is compiled using visitors' ratings and reviews that have been collected continuously since 2005.

Lake camping is popular in Texas with 6 of the top 10 campgrounds in the state located on lakes. East Texas campgrounds dominated this year's list, though Big Bend National Park in West Texas made a showing as well. With the exception of Big Bend National Park, many of the best campgrounds in Texas are located a short drive from major cities.

"This list really showcases the diversity of camping experiences available in such a large state like Texas," according to Tripleblaze founder Jeff Barber. "You've got the desert environment in West Texas, Hill Country in the central part of the state, and lush reservoirs and even Gulf-coast campgrounds dotting the eastern part of the state."

With lake camping so popular in Texas, it's no surprise that 4 of this year's top 10 Texas campgrounds are operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Two campgrounds on the list are operated by the National Park Service and one privately-owned campground even cracked the top 10.

9. Padre Island National Seashore (Corpus Christi, TX)
