GIVATAIM, Israel - June 11, 2013 - PRLog -- Adam Har and Guy Projects, a geographic research company that provides geological surveys based on satellite imagery and air photographs, has successfully completed a Precision Agriculture project initiated in Botswana.

Precision Agriculture ("PA") is a farming management concept based on observing and responding to intra-field variations. The main goal of such management concept is optimizing returns on inputs, while preserving limited resources.

PA is based on various technological developments, such as satellite imagery, air photographs, information technology, geospatial tools, etc.

Specifically, PA helps farmers in the following categories:

-          Crop Science: matching farming practices more closely to crop needs;

-          Environmental Protection: reducing environmental risks to farmers;

-          Economic Improvement: boosting competitiveness by identifying and implementing more efficient practices.

Moreover, PA provides farmers with plenty of useful information to:

-          Manage records of their farm;

-          Improve their decision-making processes;

-          Enhance the quality and nutritious values of their crops;

-          Increase traceability;

-          Enhance the marketing of their farm products;

-          Improve their lease arrangements with landlords.

Adam, Har and Guy Projects expect that the information it provided together with the information and analysis the PA team derived from precise geological equipment provide a crucial contribution to the project. For example, according to the initial results, currently only 66% of the potential land resource is being efficiently farmed. This, together with the ability to better determine the most efficient crop policy is expected to increase productivity by at least 100%. Mr. James Bohotou, who led the project in Botswana is one of the pioneers of integrating modern geographical technology in effort to increase the crops and farming efficiency. When presented with the results of the PA survey by the CEO of Adam Har and Guy Projects, Mr. Bohotou expressed his hopes that this project become an example of the importance of implementing innovative technologies in the effort to modernize and optimize the farming in the country.
