BOCA RATON, Fla. - June 11, 2013 - PRLog -- We really appreciate the participation in our 2nd acreage survey conducted over the weekend!

Subscribers in 6 of the most affected states reported they will be unable to get all the acres seeded to corn they intended to plant just a week ago. The number of corn acres in those 6 states claimed as prevent plant was 290,000 acres larger than last week’s survey while the acreage expected to be planted to beans originally destined for corn declined by 80,000 acres.

Driving the corn prevent plant acres was Minnesota now at 1.305 million, Iowa at 626,682 and North Dakota at 501,700 acres. Together these states represent over 80% of prevent plant corn acres in our survey.

Click here: (http://www.roachag.com/assets/2013/6/10/surveymapupdate.pdf) to see the state by state report. Here are the numbers compared with last week:

This week’s survey compared to early spring intentions:
  •    Total Prevent Plant Acres: 2,847,409
  •    Total Acres Switching to Beans: 1,054,187
  •    Total Corn Acre Loss: 3,901,597
  •    Total Production Loss: 598,056,026 Bushels

Last week’s survey compared to early spring intentions:
  •    Total Prevent Plant Acres: 2,557,893
  •    Total Acres Switching to Beans: 1,174,901
  •    Total Corn Acre Loss: 3,729,794
  •    Total Production Loss: 560,128,098 Bushels

We did not reduce corn yields for late planting in our assumptions. We used the trend yields for each state when calculating production losses.. We did not reduce corn acreage in any states we did not survey, even though we know some will be lost due to planting problems and flooding.

Our survey leads us to expect the USDA to cut planted corn acreage to 93.4 million acres. We expect the USDA bean plantings to increase to 78.15 million acres.

The USDA will release their updated supply demand numbers Wednesday which will include their updated acreage and yield estimates.
