In 2011 Kambrian was previously nominated for the same award but in Class I category, which includes businesses that have revenues below $1 million in annual sales. That year, the company received the Class I Winner’s Circle Award. Kambrian was also nominated in 2012 in Class II by the Women Business Enterprise Council West (WBEC-West) as Supplier of the Year. Owner Cathy Hsieh said, “The multiple nominations demonstrate that Kambrian continues to be active within a diverse community and that we have done our job very well.” Local Supplier of the Year nominees compete with other Class II MBEs in a regional competition. Winners advance to the national competition. National winners from U.S. regions will be honored at the National Minority Supplier Development Council awards dinner in San Antonio later this year. According to LAWA, nominees are certified in good standing by the SCMSDC, have “distinguished themselves and their business” and have shown “outstanding performance in their contractual obligations,” Hsieh describes her company as a trusted IT reseller. The company provides quality software, hardware, and services to enterprise and government customers. “We help our customers gain a competitive edge, increase efficiency and reduce their costs. We are known for our industry knowledge, technical expertise and responsiveness to our customers,” Hsieh said. In addition to running a multi-million dollar corporation, Hsieh also acts as the senior vice chair of the Los Angeles Forum of WBEC-West LA Forum and will step into the chair position in 2014. One of her primary roles there is to develop beneficial business opportunities between corporate members and certified Woman Business Enterprises. Hsieh is also on the board of directors for the Asian Business Association, Los Angeles. “I contribute my management expertise and passion to these two organizations, and through them I help my peers grow their businesses,” Hsieh holds an MBA from Cornell and a BA in electrical engineering from UCLA. Prior to starting Kambrian Corporation, she worked for Microsoft and Honeywell in sales, marketing, operations and project management. Hsieh was born in Taiwan and speaks fluent Mandarin. The local SCMSDC 2013 Supplier of the Year celebration will take place on July 11 at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach Hotel.
