Speakers include women who have built businesses, written books, published successful blogs, or contributed to the community in their own way. They are “ordinary moms” doing extraordinary work. Previous speakers include Dr. Ari Brown, pediatrician and author of the 411 parenting books, Elaine Garza of Giant Noise, PR agency, Wendi Aarons, humor writer, Barb Steinberg, teen life coach, Bernadette Noll and Carrie Contey of Slow Family Living, Tiffany Harelik of Trailer Food Diaries, children's author, Liz Garton Scanlon and Sabrina Parsons, CEO of Palo Alto Software. Trish Morrison, MomCom founder, says she started MomCom to fulfill her own need of knowing that she wasn't alone in motherhood. After having her daughter at age 39, Morrison says she lost her identity and her confidence as a woman. It wasn't until after she starting talking to other mothers and hearing their stories, that she realized she wasn't alone. "I ask the speakers to focus on their real stories as moms and business women. We all have incredible stories to tell and the learning at MomCom comes from active listening and participation rather than classroom-style sessions. By hearing each others' stories women who may seem to be on different courses in their lives; bloggers, techies, creatives, stay at home moms, entrepreneurs; MomCom® Life, with it’s trademarked, “Mom Up!” slogan, is expanding to become an organization that is also about building a powerful community of moms nation-wide. "In more than 85% of US households, moms are the ones making the buying decisions. Put that together with an annual spending of more than $2.1 trillion by moms in the United States today and you get a powerful force in the world. Money talks," says Morrison. "Moms need to own their power and we're hoping MomCom can help them do that." A light breakfast, lunch and a local foodie reception with live music by Kimberly Connolly are included in the registration fee. New on the agenda this year are two breakout sessions, Google+ for Business and How Money Really Works: Practical Advice for Women.
