By: Pamela R. Purifoy At the 8 a.m. service Rev. Chalice Overy will be the guest speaker. She is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. Overy received her calling into the ministry at the age of 14, and accepted her call at 17. Rev. Overy is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a student at UNC, she was an active participant in campus ministry. She founded a successful mentoring program for high school students, and was active in domestic and foreign mission work. Rev. Overy continued to pursue her education at Duke University Divinity School, receiving a Master of Divinity degree in 2006. Since then, she has received formal training in congregational conflict and mediation, and serves as a consultant for churches and other organizations. At the 11 a.m. service Durham born and raised, Larry Williams, II will bring the Word to the St. Joseph AME congregation. Larry is a Southern High School graduate, and a graduate of North Carolina A & T University. He has a passion for many things, among them are drawing, painting and architecture, poetry and music. He is excited about the opportunity to discover his voice by bringing a message to the congregation on Youth Sunday.
