ATLANTA - June 6, 2013 - PRLog -- The cast of “The Carousel” have their pencil’s sharpened and are ready to take calls from listeners wishing to pledge their financial support to WCLK 91.9 . On June 14 from 6pm to 9pm RivaBlue will welcome the creatures from Herbert Bowens Jr.s poetry based musical into the WCLK studios. They’ll be Spiders, Maybe’s, Thing-a-ma-gigga’s, What-cha-ma-call-it's and even a little This-n-That running all over the studio with one goal in mind - to help WCLK finish what they started and reach their 2012-2013 fundraising goal.

Karlotta Washington, Executive Producer of "The Carousel" says, “we are thrilled to be part of WCLK’s fundraising campaign. As cultural producers, we understand that it takes a village to raise a creative community.” The volunteers will include Herbert Bowens Jr. creator of “The Carousel” a poetry based musical, as well as the shows lead Ryan Fisher who plays Cierra aka SistahGirl. According to Mr. Bowens the cast and crew are busy tapping into their pool of supporters and plan to meet the stations fundraising goal for the hours the cast covers the phones.

The cast are prepared to sing, dance and spit poetry to encourage people to call into the station and pledge their support. Vada Coleman, EdD, vocal director for the stage play shares, “I’ve been listening to WCLK for many years. The station stands for quality and longevity and it is an honor to be able to give a little back to a station that gives so tirelessly to the community.”

WCLK’s Bridge-the-Gap fundraiser runs from June 5 until June 16. To make your pledge go to https://secure.publicbroadcasting.net/wclk/pledge.pledgemain.
