Pennsylvania Auto Finance Sounds off against Distracted Driving

PHILADELPHIA - June 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Pennsylvania Auto Finance, a leading provider of vehicle financing services for consumers in Philadelphia and across the state, is speaking out against distracted driving.  The fatalities associated with distracted driving, largely an issue that occurs when drivers are texting while driving, are climbing at a shocking rate.

The company recently covered the topic on their blog (http://www.pennautofinance.com/blog/), where they called out teenagers and their parents for engaging or allowing texting while driving in a post titled:  "PA Teens: Put the Cell Phone Away, and Drive Safely!"  Although this direct call out of Pennsylvania teenagers may come across as harsh, the statistics are staggering:  texting teens are five times more likely to get in an accident, and eight times more likely if music is involved.  Given the increase in vehicle safety technology, driving fatalities among teenagers had been decreasing for the last decade, up until 2011 and 2012.  Experts cite distracted driving as the reason for this reversed trend.

"As a member of the automotive industry," said a Pennsylvania Auto Finance spokesman, "we feel an obligation to do what we can to bring awareness to this problem, and hopefully through awareness bring increased safety, legislation, and technology."  The company, which provides auto financing services to consumers with both good and bad credit (http://www.pennautofinance.com/bad-credit/), will be continuing to touch on the issue both in their blog and through their social media channels.
