TV guide app ON AIR introduces narrated listings for blind or visually impaired users

PYRMONT, Australia - June 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Even though every Apple iPhone or iPad comes with "VoiceOver", a built-in accessibility solution, many apps do not meet the requirements of blind or visually impaired users. The TV listings guide "ON AIR" now introduces support for blind users on a whole new level by enriching VoiceOver with TV listings content. Included in the free update are many features: TV listings - including times and comprehensive details - are read out loud, an improved audio navigation makes the app easier to access, and narrated ratings for shows and movies help to find things worth watching.

At the touch of a button ON AIR reads the name of the programme, times, channel, episode title and rating. In details view the comprehensive description is easy to access and also fully narrated.

Additionally the update brings further improvements for all users: a new section displaying favourite shows  for the entire day makes it easy for the user to find personal highlights. Additionally personalised recommendations and picks of the editors are grouped in a convenient daily summary.

We did not just want to continue with the basic implementation of existing accessibility techniques but aim to provide the best possible app for all our user groups.
