Follow on Google News | Victorian Railway Signal Post Restored‘Newport Nobby’ the last remaining signal post on the L&NW railway in Newport Pagnell has stood languishing for several decades but has now been restored by local conservation contractor Inspire Conservation ltd.
By: Inspire Conservation Ltd Michael comments “this is a significant part of the town’s railway heritage as it is the only thing that remains. The train line ran from Wolverton to Newport and serviced the many workers for Wolverton industry and the thriving works there. When the line was closed it was the end for that part of history but we have had many locals sharing their stories and remembering the post and the other buildings, which is now another housing estate. This is a good thing for locals and local heritage” The work has been praised by local councillors Derek Eastman and Douglas McCall and noted on their websites and to Milton Keynes Council. You can see photos of the project on the Inspire Conservation website http://www.stoneconservation.net/ /End Notes to editors: 1. Photographs available 2. Michael Sheppard is an accredited conservator. 3. Listing details of post found at http://douglasmccall.mycouncillor.org.uk/ End
