Orillia & Lake Country Business Expo

ORILLIA, Ontario - June 4, 2013 - PRLog -- The event, previously known as the Orillia Business Expo, has grown this year to accommodate businesses from the larger Orillia & Lake Country region.

Partners throughout the Townships of Oro-Medonte, Severn, Ramara, Rama and Orillia have rallied together to support the ‘buy local’ message and shine a spotlight on local businesses.  What began as a business-to-business event has evolved over the years and is open to consumers, a growing number of which are consciously striving to use local business and services.

“Since so many people are seeing the benefits of shopping locally we wanted to expand the event this year so consumers learn about the variety of successful businesses and services we have here in our own backyard,” says Ken Forbes, President of the Orillia Business Association.  “The event is also a great opportunity for businesses and consumers to network, connect, and we hope, create lasting partnerships.”

This year’s event has already gained strong partners which include Casino Rama, the Orillia Business Association, Oro-Medonte, Ramara and Orillia & District Chambers of Commerce, the Orillia Area Community Development Corporation (CDC), the Business Enterprise Resource Network (BERN) and the City of Orillia Economic Development Office.

While the event is open to small, medium and large businesses, it’s no coincidence that the event will fall on October 22, during Small Business Week, “Small businesses are the heartbeat of a small town,” said Forbes, “and events such as this really give businesses a chance to showcase their talent”.
