Navgathi Marine in Seaplane project

COCHIN, India - June 4, 2013 - PRLog -- The launch of Kerala seaplane project was another proud moment for Navgathi. The firm has been entrusted with the designing of floating marinas & houseboats in Seaplane project.

It was a proud moment when Navgathi Marine becomes a part of Kerala’s most prestigious & one of the fastest completed projects in the history of the state. The project started in late July last year and the launch was inaugurated by Kerala chief minister shri. Oommen Chandy. Water-dromes with floating marinas designed by Navgathi have been setup at Ashtamudi, Punnamada, Kumarakom, and Bekal. Water-drome at Bolgatty Island will be set up after the Navy gives its clearance.

The floating pontoons made of fiber reinforced plastics were designed under Kerala Inland vessel rules to carry 25 people at a time and are of dimensions 10 x 5 meters. Mr. Dilip Krishnan, Mr.  Sudheer from Descon along with Port authorities gave the approval for design There are 6 floats joined together to make a pontoons. The entire structure is anchored to ensure more safety. House boat and seaplane will be moored to these floating pontoons.

Sandith Thandassery, CEO of Navgathi Marine Design & Constructions that said the boats would act as a security hold area. "Regular houseboats around 25-30 meters in length were found to be optimal.
All boats are around six months to 1 year old, and some of them had life saving devices such as floodable protection keeping with the 2010 Kerala Inland Vessel Rules, but it will be a standard fixture. We've also redesigned the pontoon to improve handling. Partitions will be used to create separate spaces within the boat," he said.

Navgathi has ample experience in designing similar projects. Poppy's Hotel - India's first floating resort , Kumbalangi, Kerala, was one among that.
