Babel’s Paint and Decorating Stores Chosen to Offer Historic Williamsburg Collection Paint Colors

NORWOOD, Mass. - June 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Babel’s Paint & Decorating Stores is pleased to announce that they were selected by Benjamin Moore to be one of 200 paint dealers in the country and Canada to launch "The WILLIAMSBURG® Color Collection," an assortment of paint colors authentically rooted in the history of our nation and its founding.

Babel’s Paint & Decorating Stores will begin offering this historic paint in all of it’s Massachusetts store locations. “We feel honored that we have been selected by Benjamin Moore to offer this historic paint,” said Jeanne Babel, of Babel Paint & Decorating Stores.

Benjamin Moore, one of North America's most respected paint manufacturers and color authorities, has joined with The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's WILLIAMSBURG brand to launch The WILLIAMSBURG® Color Collection by Benjamin Moore, an assortment of paint colors authentically rooted in the history of our nation and its founding. The new 144-color palette represents a unique intersection of history, science and design that reflects the actual colors that existed in the 18th- and 19th-century and brought to customers through the most advanced paint technology in the industry from Benjamin Moore.

Colonial Williamsburg's renowned research team of historians and conservators examined period documents, paint samples, wallpaper and architectural fragments, and through this process discovered fresh and unexpected color findings. The Benjamin Moore team then carefully studied pigment compositions in order to precisely match these colors using the latest scientific methods to ensure the highest degree of authenticity to the original hues. As a result, The WILLIAMSBURG® Color Collection by Benjamin Moore presents a vibrant yet complex array of shades as they appeared more than 250 years ago that can be effortlessly incorporated into the modern home.

The WILLIAMSBURG® Color Collection by Benjamin Moore is now available in Benjamin Moore's Aura, Regal Select, Advance and Grand Entrance paints, as well as pint samples found at all of Babel’s Massachusetts store locations. Victor Babel, Sr. and his wife, Mickey, opened the first Babel's store in 1950 in his hometown of Norwood, MA. Babel's quickly developed a reputation for quality paint and wallpaper products, personalized service and attention to detail.

Twenty years later, Victor and Mickey's youngest son, Vic, Jr. with the support and partnership of his wife Jeanne, the second generation of Babel's took over the business and began seeking opportunities for growth.

In the early 1990's it became clear that Babel's was not just a paint and wallpaper store. With the addition of professional designers, it had grown into a full-service decorating center. In 1994, the store name was officially changed to Babel's Paint & Decorating Store.

In 1996 Vic and Jeanne opened their second store in Jeanne's hometown of Needham, MA, followed three years later with the addition of the Foxboro store. In 2005, Babels acquired a paint store in Canton at Cobb’s Corner which they quickly renovated to include design services.

From 400 square feet in 1950, Babel's stores have grown to four locations. With more than 30 employees – Babels is pleased to continue its path of growth, success and service to the community.
