Follow on Google News | The Garrison Announces Pechakucha Nights, Beginning June 6PechaKucha Nights are informal gatherings where creative people in and about this region will share their ideas, works, thoughts, holiday snaps -- just about anything, really -- in the PechaKucha 20x20 format.
By: BBG&G Advertising, Inc. Devised in Tokyo in 2003 as a format for architects in a conference setting to present their work expediently (allowing each architect 20 seconds to display and talk about each of 20 images), PechaKucha Nights have evolved into fun gatherings, where creative people from all walks of life share ideas, thoughts, images or just about anything else, using the same 20 X 20 (or six minutes and 40 seconds) format. Like Karaoke, PechaKucha, which now takes place in 600 cities worldwide, is destined to become a global entertainment appealing to spirited people of every age. The founders of PechaKucha believe that online social networks are not able to offer people the same level of community that comes from a live gathering. The founders of The Garrison, having hosted gatherings of all kinds since their inception, agree with this philosophy wholeheartedly and are excited to have their establishment become the first in the region to offer PechaKucha Nights. PechaKucha events, which generally include ten presenters and last for about one and a half hours, have been known to generate abiding friendships, stimulating business contacts, and great fun for presenters and spectators alike. PechaKucha Nights at The Garrison will be held in the recently renovated old handball court/yoga studio, now called The Atrium. The June 6 event begins at 6:00 pm with socializing and a cash bar. Post event, drinking and socializing continue, with a small plates menu available in The Garrison’s Valley restaurant. Admission is $5.00, with reservations available on a “first come, first serve” basis. Requests for reservations should be sent to chipallemann@ The Garrison’s long and distinguished history includes a stint as a public men’s relaxation resort (known as Bill Brown’s Physical Training Farm), to a private country club, to its current incarnation as a recreational destination attracting visitors from within the tri-state area and beyond. Known alternately as the Gateway to the Hudson Valley and the Gem of the Hudson Valley, The Garrison includes a four-room country inn, an 18-hole championship golf course, a world-class spa, two highly-regarded restaurants (serving produce grown in property gardens and sourced from local farms in the region, under the guidance of The Garrisons’ chef de cuisine) with private rooms and environments for both large and small meetings, weddings and other special events. Situated on 300 acres with sweeping views of both the river and the mountain landscape, one hour out of NYC and with easy access to other well-known Hudson Valley destinations, The Garrison offers the ultimate recreational experience to visitors from March through December.
