Short Film "On the Nature of Hotness" Set for U.S. Premiere Screening at NYCIFF

NEW YORK - May 30, 2013 - PRLog -- NEW YORK CITY – Writer, actor, and executive producer Richard Snyder brings the U.S. Premiere of his new short film, “On the Nature of Hotness,” to the 2013 New York City International Film Festival on Sunday, June 16.

“On the Nature of Hotness” was selected from 76 short narrative films as one of five nominees for the NYCIFF award “Best Comedy in a Short Film.”

Renowned author Byron Katie, who TIME Magazine called “a spiritual innovator for the new millennium,” said of the film:

Snyder explores the subject of attractiveness through modern eyes. Ancient times have had an impact, but Hotness “needs an update.” A comical animated otter, Harvey, also known as Snyder’s “inner-marine mammal,” helps explain the Nature of Hotness to viewers.

“On the Nature of Hotness” is a funny yet inspiring 9-minute piece that pushes the boundaries of prior conceptions about attraction. Has love and being attracted to others changed over the course of time? Do cultures and the passage of time help guide us to what we find attractive?

“On the Nature of Hotness” challenges its viewers to unwrap their own Hotness through understanding the biological, physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions of attraction. Richard Snyder is a doctor, a student of the Creative and the Divine, and a comedian. His insights come from study of ancient wisdom and his own life experiences.

To find answers to the Hotness riddle, Snyder channels his inner prophet, professor, connoisseur, guru and inner-marine mammal in a fast-paced multimedia experience. Intimate surprises are revealed on the journey, and viewers will walk away from “On the Nature of Hotness” with a better understanding of how they perceive attractiveness and what it means to them personally.
