The XTensionDesk Gives Tech Workers a Healthy Alternative

A work space that works with you, not against you, to make computer work comfortable

ISSAQUAH, Wash. - May 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Issaquah, WA – June 1, 2013 – A Seattle area startup, High Point Wellness Concepts LLC, is offering a major innovation for tech workers.   The company has created a work space that allows easy manual positioning of the computer components to help people avoid repetitive injuries and obesity.  The XTensionDesk easily goes from reclining to sitting to standing in seconds; encouraging posture change while at the computer.  Although focused primarily on the tech crowd, the new product fits everyone from kids to adults.

Founder Craig Dye observes, “Our bodies are made to move – it’s as natural, necessary and energizing as breathing.  But if moving at the computer isn’t quick and easy, we’re just not going to do it. It’s not our fault we’re shackled to computers doing static work; our work spaces are static.  It’s no wonder we are more sedentary.  It’s our work space - not our work - which is killing us.  Work styles have evolved, but workspaces haven’t. The so-called ‘modern’ work space still resembles the manager’s desk from the Industrial Revolution. Nothing currently available answers the needs of today’s tech community in an intelligent way.  The XTensionDesk is the first truly intuitive option for computer-based work.”

Dye has a Master’s in ergonomics and owned a high-end furniture business. The company’s current prototype has received high marks from healthcare professionals and is being finalized for production.  After taking the product through four successful testing and modification stages, the company has partnered with manuel saez & partners, an award- winning NYC industrial design firm, to prepare the final version for manufacturing.  Saez says simply:  “This is the dream desk.”

The company is currently taking pre-orders on its website for 300 units at a deep discount.  Healthcare professionals, such as physical and occupational therapists and chiropractors, receive special benefits when they place pre-orders for resale.  Dye says, “Because our highest priority is to get the XTensionDesk into the hands of those who need it most, front-line healthcare pros are ideal partners.  The easy adjustments of the XTensionDesk can help many tech workers recover from existing injuries or conditions and help others avoid treatment in the first place.”

Since its recent launch, the company has attracted a growing level of interest from the tech, healthcare and business sectors. Articles or product spotlights have recently appeared in Fast Company magazine and several blogs – including the influential GeekWire business blog in Seattle.  See the XTensionDesk in action, and learn more about the features, pricing and company at www.xtensiondesk.com.   Or, contact Craig Dye at craig@xtensiondesk.com.
