Media Advisory: Video Gamers Tell Their Side of the "Violent Video Game Debate"

Video Gamers To Tell Their Side of the "Violent Video Game Debate" - Inviting Media
By: PatrickScottPatterson.com

DALLAS - May 29, 2013 - PRLog -- The "violent video game" debate has been a hot topic in the press for years and especially in recent months.  Numerous media outlets bring up the topic following almost any violent headlines while politicians and pundits take aim at Mature video games, claiming they are to blame for violent actions while attempting to pass laws to tax and regulate video gaming content.

Patrick Scott Patterson and Rachel Lara are among the video gamers who have had enough.  These lifelong video gamers feel that the media and pundits use gaming as a scapegoat far too often and without understanding the video game culture and the true demographics of the still-growing video game entertainment industry, which saw 68 percent of it's consumers in 2012 made up of adults, with the average age of 30.

Feeling that the media does not give gaming culture equal time in the ongoing violence debate, the two are teaming up this Friday night as part of the A-Kon 24 event in Dallas to discuss the gamer's side of the "violent video game debate" and inviting the press to attend and cover their side of the topic.

The A-Kon events takes place at the Dallas Hilton Anatole Hotel at 2201 Stemmons Freeway, with Patterson and Lara's panel to take place in the Topaz Room starting at 10:15 p.m. on Friday night.

This is the second live panel the pair has done on this topic.  In February they hosted a panel on the debate at the Carolina Games Summit in North Carolina with several local political figures and media present.  A partial video replay can be found here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Up6RRFEQcSA

Patterson has also been used as an expert on the topic in pieces by network affiliates in both the Dallas and Austin areas.  Videos of each can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLfZ68nQj1s and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqIhofKqJmw

Both panelists will also be attending the upcoming E3 Expo in Los Angeles.  Patterson is also set for another panel on this topic at the ScrewAttack Gaming Convention in late June, teaming with Revision3's (and formerly G4tv's) Adam Sessler and others.

Media interested in covering the A-Kon panel and/or speaking to Patterson and Lara can make arrangements with Stevi Vaughn, Mr. Patterson's personal assistant at (817) 894-4559.
