BlogTalkRadio.com A-List Salon Show Interviews Dr. Keith R. Harley, Jr.

Author and Consultant Veronica Woods Interviewed Hairstylist and Salon Owner Keith Harley To Discuss Tips to Build A Profitable Community Network On the A-List Salon Radio Show on Wednesday, May 22, 2013

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - May 24, 2013 - PRLog -- With intense competition for beauty services in many urban neighborhoods, some A-List salons establish a reputation of expertise and social responsibility well beyond the four walls of their operations to stand out. Washington D.C. area salon owner, Dr. Keith R. Harley, Jr. of Keith Harley Hair and Scalp Clinic (www.keithharley.com) shared his approach to establishing profitable community networks while raising the status of beauty professionals in society with author and consultant Veronica Woods yesterday on the A-List Salon Radio Show on blogtalkradio.com.

"Profitable community networks create new referral sources and offer additional avenues for staff personal development,"  said Woods, the author of The A-List Salon: Insider Secrets of How Profitable Salons Wow Their Clients Every Day (www.alistsalonbook.com) and CEO of My Salon Scoop Consulting.

Known as "The Hair Doctor, "Harley routinely speaks at women empowerment conferences and women's groups at corporations like Google across the country. He stays in the loop of new opportunities to get in front of potential clients by actively networking. "I develop relationships," said Harley. "The relationships are what gets me the results to make me successful and is the foundation of my business," continued Harley, who also serves on three community boards, including the N Street Village and The Smithsonian.

For business owners who want to be well known in the community without speaking on stage, Harley recommends that owners appoint a team member (or hire outside help) to serve as a spokesperson. Using social media tools like Facebook and Twitter can also help business owners become known in the community, said Harley. "With [social media] they won’t necessarily hear your voice but they will read your word, which can be just as impactful," commented Harley.

Harley also leverages his community to train his staff, many with limited exposure to some of the lifestyle and educational experiences of his target professional clientele, according to the client-focused owner. His business owner and executive clients often double as in-salon seminar facilitators and mentors. "Sometimes their mere presence can create a turnaround," said Harley.
