Blackbird is a unique resort that combines pristine Caribbean waters,
unspoiled natural beauty and uncommon personal service to create an idyllic tropical island retreat. Located on the Turneffe Atoll, 25 miles off the coast of Belize City, Blackbird Resort is nestled within a 2-mile long private, white sandy beach. We are situated on the windward side of Blackbird Caye within 4,000 acres of remote jungle and palm trees. The resort overlooks an iridescent turquoise lagoon, protected by the atoll’s rim reef and the dramatic walls of Turneffe are only 100 feet from the resort. Our prime location offers guests the opportunity to enjoy World Class diving and snorkeling at some of the most spectacular sites in the Western Hemisphere, only 5 to 10 minutes away from the resort. Offering some of the highest biodiversity in the Caribbean, Turneffe offers a well-developed reef encircling the entire island chain making it the perfect location for divers, snorkelers and kayakers.
Blackbird offers 18 private oceanfront cabanas all with modern accommodations, screened in balconies and hammocks all facing the spectacular Caribbean Sea. The resort features four charming thatched roof mahogany cottages, nine hard roofed cabanas, as well as a duplex and a triplex cabana making these two latter ones perfect for groups or families. The interiors are comfortable with full baths, electricity, and hot water. All rooms are air-conditioned, though unnecessary with the cottages open to the trade winds. The island infrastructure is comprised of rainwater collection reservoirs and Reverse Osmosis systems, three generators, telephone with fax, satellite television in the bar lounge, and free Wi-Fi internet.
Blackbird is well known throughout North America and through the years have been featured on television, Sport Diver and Scuba Diving magazines as well as newspaper articles.
