The 2014 Range Rover is Available for Order With the Option of Two Supercharged Engines
Following the success of the redesigned 2013 Range Rover, the 2014 model will be available this summer.
The two engines are being offered with an eye toward both power and efficiency. A 340-hp supercharged 3.0L V6 engine will be available, as will a 510-hp supercharged 5.0L V8. Both engines will be mated to an eight-speed ZF 8HP70 automatic transmission.
While some may be wary of a V6 engine in a Range Rover, Land Rover designed this engine to live up to the legacy of capability established by previous models of the legendary luxury SUV, all while enhancing the vehicle’s efficiency. It’s capable of jumping from 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds, and it’s also expected to receive an EPA rating of 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway/18 mpg combined. Given the 2014 Range Rover’s capabilities, its fuel economy is truly impressive, and is aided by Land Rover’s Intelligent Stop/Start system.
All-world off-road capability isn’t sacrificed with the new V6 engine, either. The new Range Rover will be able to tackle off-road tilt angles of up to 45 degrees, as well as a wading depth of almost 36 inches. It can also tow as much as 7,716 pounds. The starter motor, air conditioning compressor, alternator, and accessory drive are all waterproofed. And that’s just the start.
The 2014 Range Rover is set to usher in a new era of luxury SUVs, one where efficiency isn’t sacrificed in the name of performance or vice versa. This is a vehicle that doesn’t need to compromise, and offers exceptional comfort while driving on the road or traversing some of the most rugged terrain out there.
