Grand Strand Area High School Students Win Scholarship Awards from Jiffy Lube

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - May 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The “What Drives You?” scholarship program, funded by Grand Strand area Jiffy Lube franchise group Atlantic Coast Enterprises, LLC, has awarded $3,000 worth of scholarships to two local high school students for the 2012-2013 school year.  

Taylor Roberson from Myrtle Beach High School and Katie Kowalski from Socastee High School will be awarded $1,500 each as scholarship awardees on behalf of Jiffy Lube

The “What Drives You?” scholarship program is open to all teen drivers as well as students enrolled in Drivers Ed in Grand Strand area high schools and private driving schools.  

Students are asked to submit a 500-word essay detailing what drives them now, as an opportunity to express their inner drive and ambitions.  

In her winning essay, Taylor discusses her plans to complete a PhD in clinical psychology in order to better understand, console and help people overcome rough periods in their life. Katie wrote about her passion to become an architect in order to help the world around her with her designs.  

The scholarships are open to all students currently enrolled in high school, regardless of test scores or grades. Finalists are selected throughout the school year by a Scholarship Review Committee.

Scholarship money will go directly towards secondary education, in the form of college or other qualified technical or professional program chosen by each winning student.

North Myrtle Beach High School is the winner of the school competition and will be awarded $500 for being the school that had the most participants in the Grand Strand area Jiffy Lube Teen Driver Scholarship Program. The school may use the award however it deems fit.
