Whimsical: an innate connection to the Universe through dreams and childlike curiosity

LODHI ROAD, India - May 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Whimsical, a solo exhibition by Painter Tarab Khan was inaugurated by Smile Foundation Children and former Director General Surface Transport, Special Secretary Mr. G. Sheran on Saturday at 6.30 PM.  After a successful Solo Debut WHIMSICAL (sponsored by JLR, Jaguar & Land Rover), Artist Tarab Khan is brought her dreamlike and thought provoking paintings to her second Solo Art Show ‘Whimsical 2’ in New Delhi.

‘Whimsical 2’ is about her Dreamlike paintings with a childlike curiosity and an innate connection to the universe around. Tarab Khan is a Non-Conformist Artist and she doesn't acknowledge any boundaries that contain her thoughts or Imagination. Some of her paintings are inspired by her poems like "Am I for Real", "In the Continnum of space & Time", "A piece", "A bunch of lilies" and many more. Some of her interesting works include her “Flight of Fantasy " & "The Resonance" series.

The highlight of her show are two big paintings, "The Floating Space" & "like a mermaid in the sky I flew..."   Her paintings are vibrant, colourful and radiate Energy. A glance at her paintings and you realise that her work has some kind of strong therapeutic experience. It rejuvenates soul.

ABOUT THE ARTIST  

Tarab khan (b. 6th of Dec. 1983) is based in Hyderabad. She was born in UP. She lost her father, whom she loved the most, while she was still in School. That incident changed her life forever. She was filled with so many questions about Life and Existence, Why are we born and where does this life leads to. It made her inquisitive about life and the existence.

Holding a masters degree in Economics she could have followed her peer's path. But she chose to follow her Heart. She believes that they teach you what is already known but we never learn what is unknown. "To explore one has to be treading the unknown path”. She loves to sail, drift and discover!

ACHIEVEMENT: Tarab is a poet too. Her poems are thought provoking and at times she has woven her poem into creating paintings. Some of her well appreciated poems are "In the continuum of Space & Time", "War for Peace", "In thought", "A Piece" and "The sky is all mine "

Her collections of poems, "WHIMSICAL" by Tarab Khan", volume 1 will be available at the venue For the Guests.

She practises the Japanese Art of Ikebana and has won first prize in the same in 2012, judged by the counsel general of Japan. She has been awarded with more than a hundred certificates & prizes both at school & college level in various competition.

Her blogs ( www.tarabkhan.wordpress.com) have more than 600 followers around d the world. She is also writing a story, a story that provokes u to think and is a work of fiction but, does leave traces of her journey into d unknown.

DREAMS WITH A CAUSE: ‘Whimsical 2’ is also a tribute to pursuance of one’s dreams and aspirations. ‘Whimsical 2’ is supporting Smile Foundation’s cause of sending every child to school.

Proceeds from the sale of paintings will go towards bringing more children to the fold of education and putting them on the path empowerment.

Smile Foundation is a national level development organisation reaching out to 300,000 underprivileged children and youth every year through 185 welfare projects in subjects like education, healthcare, employability, girl child and women empowerment across 25 states of India.
