Alaris Health at Fountains-North Holds Staff and Resident ‘Bake Off’

SECAUCUS, N.J. - May 22, 2013 - PRLog -- When good cooks compete, the result is the best recipes possible, but more importantly, lots of excitement during the process.  As part of its celebration for National Nursing Home Week, May 12-18, Alaris Health at Fountains-North Campus held a ‘Bake Off’ consisting of teams of residents and staff members.  

“Our residents fondly remember the favorite dishes they prepared for their own tables.  Our staff members work each day to find the best recipes and create an atmosphere of home cooking. These groups combined to make some wonderful meals and had a fun time in the process,” says Paul Cohen, Administrator for Alaris Health at Fountains-North Campus.

The “Bake Off’ consisted of five units, with staff members and residents teaming up to create tasty concoctions. The teams had two hours to finish their chosen recipe. At the end of the ’Bake Off’, a judge was selected to taste all the dishes and choose the winning entry.  The winning entry was a dish called ‘Baked Macaroni and Cheese,’ which included ingredients such as macaroni noodles, carnation milk, sharp cheddar cheese, mild cheese.  Other recipes entered were Fettuccini Alfredo, chicken kabobs, Adobo, and pizza balls.

Staff member assisting the effort were Yvette Andrade, Recreation Therapist; Gretchen Legion, Recreation Therapist; Myrna Ragodo, Recreation Therapist; Phyllis Gardner, Recreation Therapist; Gladys Casillas, Recreation Aide.
