Rosedale’s Steve Whidden Named ‘Teacher of the Year’ by North Florida PGA

SARASOTA, Fla. - May 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Rosedale Golf & Country Club is pleased to congratulate Steve Whidden on being named ‘Teacher of the Year’ by the North Florida PGA. Whidden, who has been a golf instructor for 20 years, is the Director of Instruction at Rosedale and one of three golf professionals who manage the community’s award-winning golf program.  
Whidden received his award at an annual celebratory banquet on April 26th at Reunion Resort in Orlando. As a winner at the regional PGA level, he is now eligible for the national ‘Teacher of the Year’ award, which will be announced in January. Whidden has previously won similar awards at the chapter level, but this is the first year that he has been recognized regionally. The North Florida PGA is a non-profit group that represents nearly 1,000 golf courses and covers 42 counties, including Tallahassee, Jacksonville and the Tampa Bay area.

Whidden owns and operates a self-named golf academy at Rosedale. He is a PGA Master Professional in Instruction, one of only 337 out of 23,000 active PGA professionals. Throughout his 20-year career, he has worked and taught at some of the most prestigious golf courses across the country. In addition to his work at Rosedale, he edits numerous local golf columns and is Director of The Instruction Division in The North Florida PGA Southwest Chapter.
