LAGRANGEVILLE, N.Y. - May 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Though Dutchess County, New York may have multiple Mixed Martial Arts gyms, the quality tends to vary widely.  Other than needing a skilled martial arts instructor, a good Mixed Martial Arts school needs a clean and inviting facility in order to be presentable.  Mixed Martial Arts coaches often feel that offering quality instruction is all that is necessary for a good school and will simply teach classes in a run-down warehouse or basement with little care for its appearance.  It is important for martial arts’ instructors to remember that students are not the only ones they should be trying to impress.  In addition to the trainees, your typical martial arts’ gym will also be attended daily by the parents of the younger students, as well as any number of visitors and people who come by looking to sign up for classes.  Many of these people who have not already been won over by a quality school’s instruction may be turned off by a facility which is dirty or unpresentable, or which does not offer ample mat space or accommodations.  Dutchess Counties’ own Precision Mixed Martial Arts has recently made renovations which will give it both a better public appearance and also make it more useful as a whole to its students.

Dutchess County New York’s Precision Mixed Martial Arts is a 5,000 square foot facility when the mat space, ring, waiting area, changing room and bathroom are all included.  As such, it is much more spacious than most martial arts’ schools.  In the past we had had only 3,400 square feet of mat space, but we just this past weekend we underwent renovations providing us with an extra 600 square feet and giving us a total of 4,000 square feet of space in which to practice.  The original mat space alone was already twice of the total space offer by many mixed martial arts’ schools, so that we decided to undergo renovations proves that we really care about our appearance.  We are always striving for improvement in all areas.  If we can think of a way that something can be better, we will work to change it, and our students and all our visitors reap the benefits.  One change we made included moving our 20 by 20 foot boxing ring to the corner of the facility so that it would not interfere with the kids’ classes.  This action, along with taking down a nearby wall, is what resulted in the extra 600 feet of mat space our students now have to practice takedowns, jiu-Jitsu and striking.  Many martial arts and Jiu-Jitsu schools will not even allow students to train in throws and takedowns because they are afraid of accidental collisions, so the extra space has a very real function and is not just for show.

Dutchess Counties’ Precision Mixed Martial Arts has pretty much every type of equipment anyone could want.  In addition to our 20 by 20 foot boxing ring and our zebra mats, we also have many different types of bags for striking, boxing and Muay Thai.  These include long Thai bags that reach to the floor so they can be used to train leg kicks, upper cut bags which are shorter for practicing certain boxing punches, double end bags, slip bags for speed training and a training dummy with adjustable height which has the features of a human torso.  In addition to this, we have a crash pad to practice throws, resistance bands for strength training, medicine balls for stability and core training, and pull up bars.  For our boxing and Muay Thai courses we have many types of punching mitts and Thai pads which have bio-shields that are antimicrobial and therefore do not need to be washed.  We also have foam rollers for back injuries, jump ropes and a timer for timing our rounds.  The far wall is also padded so that we can train our aspiring fighters for cage fights.  Most mixed martial arts schools world-wide do not offer all this training equipment, let alone others in Dutchess County.

Dutchess County’s Precision Mixed Martial Arts’ gym also has many other accommodations for visitors and parents.  Since we have such a wealth of training space we have the ability to offer two classes at once.  To go along with this we have two large curtains positioned at the center of the mat to divide separate on-going classes.  Precision Mixed Martial Arts also has a large changing room and a bathroom with a shower, and many students have mentioned how grateful they are to have the ability to wash up after a long class before their drive home.  Our waiting area is adorned with leather couches for visitors as well as student’s parents, and we also have benches for our students.  In addition to this we have a cabinet for containing student’s shoes during class, a dvd player and flat screen TV and a computer and desk for those who work here.  Finally, we are the most sanitary gym in the area.   We clean all the mats at least once daily and spray all equipment in order to prevent the spread of fungus or skin infections.

Dutchess County’s bigger and improved Precision Mixed Martial Arts’ facility is now open for business.  We offer all our trial students 30 free days to see if the school is right for them and we welcome anyone interested in seeing our facility to come by anytime.
