By: Horror Realm Net proceeds will benefit Scares That Care, an all volunteer 501c3 charity that helps sick kids and women fighting breast cancer. Last year’s Day of the Dead charity event brought in more than $2,200 for the charity and the organizers hope to top that with this rare public screening of the locally made Romero classic. Actor John Amplas, who stars as the title character, will be appearing at the event. Other guests will be announced at a later date. The film is about a young man who may or may not be a vampire. Film critic Leonard Maltin gives Martin three of four stars and says it’s an “interesting little shocker (is) worth seeing, but not right after dinner”. Doors will open at 6 PM. The schedule for the night is as follows: 6:30 PM - John Amplas and other guests will be available for autographs. Mr. Amplas will be charging for his autograph but is donating all proceeds to Scares that Care. 7:45 PM - Silent auction and raffle winners announced 8:00 PM - "Martin" screening begins 9:40 PM - Q&A with John Amplas and other guests Artist Terry Callen of Screaming Brain Studio is creating a special 11x17 limited edition poster for this event. Callen has designed posters for the Fix The Chapel project and The Oaks Theater. Tickets may be purchased at www.showclix.com/ $25 includes a movie ticket and a copy of the limited edition poster which will be autographed at no additional charge. Poster tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the door. $10 general admission ticket, available in advance or at the door at the same price Horror Realm celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2013. Guests for the fall convention to be held September 20-22 at the Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South include Heather Langenkamp and Amanda Wyss from Nightmare on Elm Street and Nicholas Brendan from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
