By: art place berlin – forum for contemporary art Anna Tessenow - born in Makranstädt, grown up in Güstrow/Mecklenburg - studied at the "Hochschule für Grafik and Buchkunst Leipzig" in Professor Arno Rink's class from 1996 to 2002. After her graduation she became one of his master students. Anna Tessenow's works were shown at international art fairs in Paris, Karlsruhe and Zürich. Among other the Cotton Spinning Mill Leipzig, the Gallery Frank Pages in Baden-Baden, Schulz Contemporary Berlin and the Gallery Lux in Berlin presented her works. "Anna Tessenow leads the viewer into a strict, sometimes seemingly fantastic world of architectural painting. She characterises her paintings as "poor coloured architecture" Anna Tessenow's definite painting does without any superfluous parts and doesn't disappear in a quotation accumulation which aims at a metaphorical interpretation. She isn't bothered about event painting but is confined to give clues for the imagination of everybody, to arouse longings in the one or fundamental scepticism in the other.
