Pro-Freedom Public Policy Journal Launches

PHILADELPHIA - May 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Every morning, afternoon, and evening, it is a common practice for millions of people to take time out of their days in order to catch up on current political affairs. Whether people are looking for information from the televised media, Facebook page, Twitter feed, or an online news publications, or news wires, people are always looking to satisfy their need for political knowledge. But, many people feel as if what they had just finished watching, hearing, or reading, did not strike a chord with them and that it did not fully connect with them.

The average American, on many occasions is not being properly updated on public policy affairs. Further, sometimes people do not even know where to look in order to find consistent information which relays facts about a legislative issue, explains why it is good or why it is bad – nor can they locate a source which proposes various solutions to consider and provides information on what they can do to take action. In the instances where they can find a source that provides solutions to consider, it is in the form of think tank policy papers and academic journals which most people cannot easily read.

For the above reasons, Alec Scheer, Marc Connuck and Sri Nimmagadda formed We Are 1776, a public policy journal that aims to keep the busy, hard-working American up-to-date about politics within their localities, states, and at the federal level. As we decided against the emulation of journals published by universities and professional organizations, we kept in mind that the blue-collar worker could never understand much of the content of the Harvard Law and Policy Review, for example, without a degree in political science or economics. We provide an easily read and digested journal, thus much of our time is spent analyzing reports published by these institutions, legislation, and political philosophy in an effort to make such articles possible.

On May 3rd, 2013, We Are 1776 officially launched. Since then, we have accomplished a considerable amount with just three or four active volunteers. Our website has been fully redesigned to handle the online policy journal, a content management strategy system has been developed in order to to efficiently handle our complex categorical system and menus for each locality and state, as well as the categories and menus for the federal government. An official letterhead has been created and will be applied to all of our emails and letters. Further, We Are 1776 has developed official emails which have been and will be sent out to college communication departments in an attempt to recruit journalists and policy analysts. Within the first days of launching, We Are 1776 asked multiple representatives if they would like to write weekly columns in our policy journal, to which two graciously replied. Even better, the two who responded are model statesmen: Representative David Taylor (R-Washington State) and Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R-California).

We Are 1776 is currently looking for any interested writers to join our staff of volunteers. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in writing for We Are 1776, please contact us. We Are 1776 sincerely hopes that you will consider writing a weekly opinion editorial detailing your views on the current political and economic issues for We Are 1776’s online public policy journal.
