BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - May 14, 2013 - PRLog -- The fact, "Iron Man 3" will be the first movie ever in Japan to be shown in state-of-the-art 4DX, is enough to bring out tons of celebrities. Then add stars Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, among others, and it becomes apparent why there were record crowds at the event. Recently, Dr. Leigh-Davis was among the star-studded attendees of the Tokyo premiere of Iron Man 3.

"Tokyo is one of my favorite places in the world," stated Dr. Leigh-Davis, who was prominent in raising money to aid Japan's 2011 earthquake victims.  The movie theatre chain Korona World, plans to screen 12 titles a year using the new format. "Fourth dimension" effects utilized by the 4DX system include strobe lights and equipment in the ceiling that can drop bubbles down upon the audience, who will pay as much as a $13 (1,300 yen) premium, on top of the regular ticket price.  Yes, that is $13, in addition to, the average ticket price, which in Japan in 2012 was $12.50.

Dr. Leigh-Davis responded to the high ticket prices by responding, "It makes since to charge more, if the audience is getting more. But I am an old-fashioned person and irrespective of the price, I would likely prefer the basic movie version." The 4DX system is already in use in theaters in China, South Korea, Thailand, Russia, Mexico, Israel, and several countries in South America. The first film to be shown in the format was Avatar in 2009 in Seoul, Korea, where the company behind the system, CJ Group, is headquartered. Tagiki Ishiguro, a spokesperson for Korona World movie theatre chain expounded, "It was really a matter of timing that Iron Man became the first title for 4DX in Japan, though we were looking for a blockbuster action film, as that is what works best with the system.”
