City of Chattanooga, Tennessee Completes R12 Upgrade

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - May 13, 2013 - PRLog -- “On time and on budget with great teamwork.”  So wrote Doug Eckert, Deputy Chief Information Officer for the City of Chattanooga, about the City’s Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 upgrade project.

Performed in conjunction with the City’s Project Management Office, executive members and subject matter experts, AST consultants moved the City from Release 11i.10 to R12, migrating 15 modules in a 4-month period.  Training on R12 delta changes was included during the upgrade, as were AST’s recommendations on how to solve the City’s long term organizational issues for the continued and efficient use of E-Business Suite.

At a City Council meeting soon after the go-live, Mr. Eckert stated in describing the project’s success, “I’m here to reflect the limelight to the people you need to know about, who made something really big go right.”  Mr. Eckert continued:

“We knew it was going to be risky…We have people who have gone dozens of hours without sleep, and we have managed to make our way through all the various problems that confronted us, and we are here to tell you today that we are up and running and have a good system.  And the way that that has happened is because we selected the right vendor, and we worked cooperatively…It was an enormous success across multiple departments, and one that truly deserves to be recognized in this fashion.”

AST will be following up the R12 upgrade by implementing Oracle Advanced Benefits and assisting the City with their open enrollment in June.
