This broad and growing national campaign will visit and deliver letters at Congressional and Senate offices, and follow up with targeted phone calls as well as a national call-in effort. More than 100 letters were delivered to district offices and 50 Capitol Hill offices in both March and April. The letters will demand legislators: Sign on to the Grayson/Takano Letter: a "dear colleague" letter “drawing a line in the sand” by pledging to vote against cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. Cosponsor H.R. 1579 :The Inclusive Prosperity Act—also known as the Financial Speculation Tax (FST) or Robin Hood Tax (RHT)—which would generate hundreds of $billions of dollars to fund job creation and jumpstart the economy, as well as protect the social safety net. Cosponsor H.R. 676: The Expanded and Improved Medicare For All Act to establish a non-profit universal single payer healthcare program, an improved "Medicare for all" program. Lead sponsor Rep. John Conyers. The “Educate Congress” campaign began in 2010, and has focused on common sense solutions to shared challenges including economic and budget policies, ending the war in Afghanistan, protecting voting rights, as well as guaranteeing personhood rights for people—not corporations— PDA National Director Tim Carpenter said, “In March and April, we reached more than 150 congressional offices in districts and on Capitol Hill, demanding “Prosperity Not Austerity.” This month, we will exceed that number of visits, demanding our elected officials join Rep. Grayson, Rep. Takano, and dozens of other House members drawing a line in the sand against any cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid.
