The Bungee Flag New Must-Have Item for Contractors

Safety flags are available at several major home improvement and construction retailers in United States and Canada

SAN FRANCISCO - May 13, 2013 - PRLog -- SAN FRANCISCO -- Most contractors and do-it-yourselfers are aware of the state requirement of placing a red flag on projecting loads on vehicles. Many use freebie flags for their nearby hardware store, while others use anything they can get their hands on that resembles a red or orange flag – an old t-shirt, a safety vest, construction tape, or, on occasion, a leftover defeated plastic red flag from a previous job.

With safety, the law, and the environment in mind, Brian Lentz, a retired Navy Chief, turned general contractor and inventor, has innovated a safety flag that has quickly become one of the hottest “necessity” products in the construction industry – The Bungee Flag.

“We call it an oversight or revolution in the safety flag industry but for many years now, hardware stores have been throwing away money by providing free plastic flags which in many cases detach from the load and end up on the side of the road,” Lentz said. “What initially started as good intentions ends up polluting our environment creating significant costs in cleanup efforts every year.”

The Bungee Flag was created with the contractor and home owner DIY’er in mind. A safety flag attached to a bungee cord with a hook and ring is all it took to make sure the safety flag doesn’t detach while going down the road. No more staples and no more strings. Just simply “Wrap it, Snap it, and Go!”

“Eventually, I decided to wrap up some loose boards with a bungee cord that was sticking out from his truck and he tied a red plastic flag to it that he had gotten from a local hardware store and hence The Bungee Flag was born!” Lentz said.

After using The Bungee Flag for his own benefit for a couple years, fellow workers suggested to Lentz that he patent his creation. That’s exactly what he did. He teamed up with the product development company Fu Len Holdings Ltd., and the sales/marketing company of MIH Sales and presented the product to hardware retailers across the United States. Today, their distribution channels now include some of the biggest retailers in the hardware and home improvement: The Home Depot, True Value, Do It Best, Orgil, House Hasson, HDW, Handy Hardware, Blish-Mize and many more all over North America.

“They loved it. Not only can this product make them more profits, but it also saves them money by not having to give away as many of those freebie flags,” Lentz said.

As a contractor and inventor, Lentz said he found himself needing or using these red flags almost every day because it’s the law. In addition, The Bungee Flag means less chances of receiving a citation, not to mention the increased liability if an unobserved load damages another vehicle.

“Nothing is worse than getting a ticket for something that is so simple to avoid,” he said.
