Faith-based Films Continue their Upward Trend

Latest Inspirational Film, DREAMER,” Portrays a Modern Day Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors

May 12, 2013 - PRLog -- With an overwhelmingly positive response to The Bible mini-series, faith-based films, such as Fireproof and Courageous, and The Chronicles of Narnia, Moving Visions Entertainment has announced it has begun pre-production of the full length motion picture “Dreamer,” a modern re-telling of Joseph and his coat of many colors.

Producer Christy McGlothlin stated, “There is a strong market for clean, wholesome entertainment in our theaters and homes, yet how many times have you experienced the frustration of wanting to watch a dynamic, uplifting film, and you drove to the cinema multiplex in ‘faith,’ only to turn around after seeing there wasn’t one single decent movie other than possibly a cartoon—and even those were questionable.”

The widely anticipated film is about Joseph, a gifted, idealistic young man, sold into slavery by his brothers, jealous of the gift of a coat of many colors given to him by their father, discovers his years of hardship and despair are only steps along a divinely appointed path leading to a destiny of rescuing the world from desolation.

The film producer has utilized a Kickstarter page at: http://www.tinyurl.com/dreamer2014 that asks for $1 or more and offers the usual Kickstarter “rewards” like T-shirts and movie posters, but it also offers real opportunities for fans and supporters to appear on the filming production set and even being an actor in the movie! And it doesn’t stop there. They even offer their larger supporters to become an associate producer with a listing on IMDb.com and their name on the rolling credits in the actual film when it is projected on big screens as moviegoers around the world get to enjoy a modern version of the timeless Biblical account of Joseph who was sold into slavery by his own brothers, suffered years of imprisonment yet emerged triumphantly to become the #2 most powerful person in America, second only to The President of the United States of America. This modern parable is an epic story that crosses oceans and dives deep into the human heart, with a message rich in themes of restoration, reconciliation and redemption.

Prior to the current production of Dreamer, Christy had completed a film bringing the old parable of The Prodigal Son into a contemporary setting. IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2386502/?ref_=sr_4

But where her ‘remake’ of an ancient story was different that the typical faith-based or inspirational film, she use big name actors including Robert Davi (Die Hard, Goonies, License to Kill), Edie McClurg (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off; Planes, Trains and Automobiles), John Diehl (Escape From New York, The Client, A Time to Kill, Pearl Harbor), Jason Burkey (October Baby, For The Glory, Lukewarm).

To further attract an expanded audience, Christy effectively integrated non-actors actually playing themselves, including Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America (who appeared as a guest with Piers Morgan multiple times) playing himself as an owner of Larry’s Gun Shop. When there was a need for a pollster in the film she used Scott Rasmussen, the real life most famous pollster in the world-- or perhaps second to George Gallup. Maybe we should run a poll to see who is more famous. But which polling firm would we hire?

But when it came to featuring an actor to play the role of Talk Show legend Sean Hannity, Christy again didn’t pick an actor at all. She picked Sean Hannity himself! And in the preview, we can say that Sean did a phenomenal job of acting—himself. He looked and talked and acted just like…Sean! Other real life actors in her last film included talk show hosts Rusty Humphries, Michael Medved, Andy Greenberg and Roy Masters, who owns Talk Radio Network, ranked the second largest radio network in the U.S.

And just how on earth did this newbie producer Christy McGlothlin manage all this top tier talent on what has been reported to be a SAG ‘modified low budget’ film? For that matter, how did she manage to make the film at all with seven children at home including a two year old? Hum… Now that might make an interesting film in and of itself.

So, what’s next for Christy McGlothlin after producing “A Long Way Off,” based on one of the most recognized, revered and moving parables of all time? And after making a modern remake of the story of Joseph? She says she plans on making films about Abraham, David and numerous other bible characters. Hey, why not make a remake of The 10 Commandments in a modern setting while she’s at it? The thought kind of makes ya’ want to take a peek inside her laptop to see what formula she might be cooking up for a modern Moses or Ben-Hur or some other neo-bible epic.

“Most of us have heard or read classic Bible stories told in the context of their ancient settings,” said Christy McGlothlin, adding, “Our intention is to bring to life the amazing, life-changing principles contained in the timeless stories of Scripture in a setting relevant to our viewers and society today. We can all relate to these stories of human frailty and strength, struggle and temptation--and the victories men and women of faith enjoyed against overwhelming odds. Framing these stories in a modern context provides new insight and relevance for those intimately acquainted with the stories as well as introducing them to fresh audiences who might have rarely or never encountered the enduring, powerful messages of the Bible."

“Our films are neither preachy nor intended for Christians only. Some of the greatest filmmakers of all time have recognized that the Bible contains many of the most compelling accounts of human history. So with each of our carefully cultivated projects, Biblical principles flow through a strong narrative, abetted with classic tools of storytelling, naturally introducing eternal truths. Regardless of the genre - drama, comedy, action, tragedy or romance - these sincere, timeless, relatable stories, coupled with an endearing cast, touch and impress the heart with the renewing, eternal messages found within Scripture.”

Dreamer Director/screenwriter Cleve Nettles stated, “Our contemporary re-telling (of Joseph story) hews closely to the original events, while investing deeply in character and adding a thoughtful perspective on today's issues, challenges and the labor pains of our nation and world. The twisting path our hero’s life takes - through seasons of pain, doubt, persecution and triumph - only serve to confirm the active hand of our loving Heavenly Father who guides, protects, and designs with staggering power and perfection.”

Moving Visions Entertainment, Inc. is committed to creating visually appealing, emotionally captivating, utterly unforgettable feature films with wholesome, uplifting messages, utilizing a talented, cast and crew.
