By: KAZ Diversified LLC The day will be filled with family activities that include live entertainment from Ricki Lee, Kerry Hill Band, New Dixie Blues Band, and Marilyn Blackburn; DJ Holly spinning music, dancing; Kids Kingdom – face painting, clowns, kiddie rides. Center stage entertainment emcee is Dr. James Pollock, MD. The major vendor and sponsors are LongHorn Steakhouse Restaurant, Doraville Parks & Recreation, John Rocker, Williams Enterprises, Scrapp Dogg Recycling, and more. Business owners are encouraged to share their products and services with the projected 500 attendance participation. Many Veterans whether from the Vietnam generation or the more recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are facing significant difficulties trying to cope within their civilian lives. Struggles such as homelessness, addiction, psychiatric instability, unemployment and suicide plague our retired soldiers at an alarming rate. Save Homeless Veterans, Inc. recognizes a growing need to assist our Veterans who are struggling with these difficult situations by reaching out and offering the help they need and deserve. Save Homeless Veterans in conjunction with our many associates want to invite caring Americans to participate in making a monumental, life changing difference in the lives of our Veterans in need! Currently, there are an estimated 2600 Veteran men and women in the Atlanta Metro area who are suffering because of homelessness along with the many problems that often coincide. Save Homeless Veterans, Inc. is working hard to locate these individuals and inform them about the comprehensive assistance we provide. It is our desire to show the gratitude and respect they deserve by offering the support that can help them begin a new, better chapter in their lives. Through your generous donations of time, money, goods and services, Save Homeless Veterans, Inc. is able to provide food, clothing, education, addiction counseling, medical care, dental care, job placement and, most importantly, housing to our Veterans in need. A little information about the distinguished emcee for the day: Dr. James Pollock, MD is CLO of Pollock Consulting including Congressional and DOD Liaison for Wound Warrior Needs with Wounded Warriors Advocates of America. Dr. Pollock is a proud Veteran and Iraq VET x2. He served in or near Balad Iraq twice (2005-06 & 2008). He was decorated in 2005 as the 1st USAF Family Practice physician to ever manage a combat, surgical ICU in an active war zone. He managed the 7am-7pm SICU shift where his daily intake/care included 25 new and or transitionary traumas per day in this 35 bed ICU in the tent hospital. Dr. Pollock is the National USAF Spokesperson for AF Physician Recruiting, Education Chief for FP physicians at multiple sites, Critical Care DOD Certified, Residency trained at a top 5 program (Florida Hospital). He was a Volunteer Contractor at Ft Knox Army Base in the winter right after 9/11; Staff physician for indigent care clinic in Florida (2010) for a few months to help serve God & community. This Inaugural Freedom Fest 2013 is definitely a MUST for our community to embrace and support as a “Welcome Home” event for those who proudly served these United States of America. End
