Main Street Movers joins Bekins Van Lines to offer interstate moving services

HILLSIDE, N.J. - May 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Main Street Movers in Hillside is only 3 years old, but already it’s expanding its services. This month, Main Street Movers began offering interstate moves as a new agent with Bekins Van Lines, one of the largest and most respected moving companies in the country. The move is just in time for the uptick in the housing market.

Being a Bekins agent gives Main Street the ability to grow its business by offering customers storage and moving services across state lines and throughout the globe in addition to local moves, which has been the backbone of the family business.

When the husband-wife team – Tom and Karen Mantzouranis – founded the business in 2010, their goal was to build a foundation with local moves within the tri-state area, and then begin growing the business by becoming an agent for a national mover, such as Bekins.

While the moving industry is new to Karen Mantzouranis, who has worked in marketing and advertising most of her career, Tom Mantzouranis has been moving households and businesses for more than three decades, beginning as a laborer when he was 16.

“Tom has had just about every job possible within the moving industry, because of that, he truly understands that moving is a lot more than just loading boxes into a truck,” said Bekins CEO Mark Kirschner. “His experience in specialty moves is invaluable. He knows what it takes to move hundreds of sensitive IT servers that contain vital medical records, or moving a senior citizen from her home of 50 years into an assisted-living facility.”

That background also helped the Mantzouranises select the right national partner, as Tom Mantzouranis has worked for both national and local movers. The key was finding a partner that shared the same mission and goals.

“Tom realized how amazing it would be to have a whole team that stressed treating customers and their property the way they deserved to be treated,” his wife said. “That’s how we’ve structured the foundation of the company, and that will continue to be our focus as we grow. That’s why we wanted to become a Bekins agent.”

While Bekins is a household name in the western United States, it’s a relative newcomer to the East Coast, although Bekins – which was purchased in 2012 by Wheaton Van Lines – is working to expand its reach across the country. Main Street is the second local New Jersey company (the other is Ridgewood Movers in Mahwah) to become a Bekins agent this spring.
