Ratchet Woman – Released by Book Express

What does a young girl do when her own flesh and blood turns their back on her because of who the father of her unborn baby happens to be? Lindsay Wilson decided that she would live her life and support her children the best way she could and if that meant doing something other didn’t approve of, so be it. With her best friend by her side Lindsay decided that she would not be defined by the opinions of others.

Lindsay also wanted to right a wrong that was done to her when she was just a teenager that helped to propel her into difficult circumstances. Everyone involved would have to atone for their role in causing her life to spiral downward while they moved on with their lives without a thought of what happened to her because of their actions. The revelation of the identity of the father of Lindsay’s child would set off a chain reaction that would lead to pain, death and renewal in the lives of many people.

Ratchet Woman is an exploration of how women bear the brunt of certain societal issues that were created with the equal involvement of others. When the results of multiple acts of irresponsibility manifest themselves in behaviors that are less than ideal, the finger is often pointed at the women left to deal with the consequences. In efforts to survive some women are often demonized and call ratchet or worse for the actions they take. Lindsay Wilson rejects the labels and does what she has to to support her family and right past wrongs against her.
