Infiniti is Planning to Bolster Its Lineup With an All-New Flagship Sedan and Coupe

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - May 7, 2013 - PRLog -- There should be a new top-of-the-line luxury sports car in the Infiniti of Hoffman Estates (http://www.infinitihoffman.com/index.htm) showroom in the coming years, but what it will be is still in the dark. Johan de Nysschen, president of Infiniti, has confirmed that there will be a new flagship vehicle that will likely be located above the current flagship 2014 Infiniti Q70, which replaced the 2013 Infiniti M Sedan. It will undoubtedly be a high-performance vehicle, and apparently it won’t be a production version of the Emerg-E concept, which was displayed at shows last year and was co-developed using technology from Lotus.

The new vehicle could be related to the Infiniti partnership with Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel, who was recently named Infiniti Director of Performance. Infiniti will surely leverage the experience of contributing to a world-champion Formula 1 team to develop a production-ready sports car.

The Infiniti boss also said, “I think we need some kind of sexy sports car that might share powertrains and platforms with [the Infiniti Q70] but an even more emotional iteration.” In previous statements, de Nysschen has also stated that they probably wouldn’t be developing a V8 powertrain for Infiniti anytime soon, so that would mean the use of a V6. Infiniti has been working on a turbocharged version of one of their existing V6 engines said to be capable of producing 550 hp, which would make it a good match for a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe.

Nothing is certain yet, but the new Infiniti vehicle will undoubtedly bear the striking design and all the luxury features that drivers have come to expect from Infiniti vehicles.
