The early days of the Golf Channel were a very exciting time. Arnold Palmer was launching a golf network devoted exclusively, entirely, to the game of golf. There were many critics during those early days and the odds seemed to be against them. They actually managed to go 0 to 60 in 10, that’s 0 to 60 million viewers, in 10 years. When Golf Channel’s parent company, Comcast, acquired NBC, the Golf Channel became a part of NBC Sports, making merging the two brands a challenge. Golf Channel quickly became the fastest growing network in Cable TV and the brand became bigger than ever, but never compromised the authenticity of Golf’s Home.
