Grand Opening The Starving Writer Book Store

MILWAUKIE, Ore. - May 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Today marks The Grand Opening of The Starving Writer On-line Book Store. Featuring books on writing, Indie authors, and great products for writers and readers alike.

The Starving Writer and Founder Laura K Marshall are proud to announce that The Starving Writer Book Store is now open.

The bookstore is a place for writers to come and find books and magazines on the craft of writing. It’s a place to discover new Indie authors and their works. The bookstore also has the fun gifts and products that writers and readers enjoy. It’s your local book store on-line.

Laura’s writing adventure started when she sat down and really thought about her writing and career path. She decided she wanted to be a professional writer. She would quit her day job and everything would be rosie. After that high wore off, she started thinking, how in the world am I going to do that? Which stumped her.

She began her quest for information. She combed the internet, library, and book stores. Laura joined two writing associations, one national, one local. Then she thought, I’m doing all of this writing, but I don’t have anyone else to read my work for feedback. (Her husband did some reading for her but he was at his limit) She knew there had to be other people out there in the same boat. Laura searched and found a critique group. She was getting her work read and edited, but how was she going to get it published? With her writing community and a plan, she set out to get published.

Early one Saturday morning, at her day job, she thought, I should share all of this information I’ve been collecting with other writers in the same literary boat. The light bulb went off and Laura began jotting down ideas like crazy. And that is how The Starving Writer was born.

“I’m very excited about the opening of The Starving Writer Book Store,” said Laura K Marshall, author of the Amazing but True series and Starving Writer Founder, “It has been a dream of mine since the beginning to create a store where I could promote books on writing, other authors works, and also include all the fun stuff we as writers, and readers enjoy. Over the years I have had very talented authors help me with my career and The Starving Writer is my way of ‘paying it forward’ to other writers. The purpose of The Starving Writer is to ‘help writers realize their dreams’ and I see the book store as a part of that purpose.”

Laura is the author of several books on writing, as well as multiple short stories and the Amazing but True series. Originally from Southern California, Laura has lived most of her life on the West Coast. Her love for imagination and make believe has fueled her passion for writing. Laura currently lives in Milwaukie, OR with her husband, two boys, two cats and a dog.
