Bishop Ricky Sinclair Sends His Condolences For Gerry Lane

“It is so notable that a man of wealth will share not only his money but his knowledge to better the community,” says Bishop Ricky Sinclair, “I send my prayers to the Lane family as they endure through this difficult time.”

BAKER, La. - May 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Gerry Lane, owner of seven Baton Rouge car dealerships, died early Friday morning after a long battle with cancer. He was 82 years old. (http://www.wafb.com/story/22151946/gerry-lane-passes-away)

Honeycutt says while teaching others to become thriving business owners was one of lessons Lane wanted to pass along, showing the importance of giving back to the community was even more important. Honeycutt says Lane and his family have donated nearly $30 million to local organizations and charities over the years.

Gerry is very active in the community and civic organizations. He and his family donate time and funds to over 400 charitable causes in and around the Baton Rouge area including the YMCA Youth Sports Sponsor for over 20 years and the presenting sponsor of Karnival Krewe de Louisiana for 16 years. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been provided to civic and charitable groups through sponsorships, public and silent auctions. Whether it is public or private school, academic, sporting, social, church, civic club, newcomers, senior citizens, the rich, the poor, the healthy, the ill, they have all been recipients of Gerry and Faye Lane's concern to give back to the community.

“It is so notable that a man of wealth will share not only his money but his knowledge to better the community,” says Bishop Ricky Sinclair (http://www.rickysinclair.us), “I send my prayers to the Lane family as they endure through this difficult time.”

Gerry Lane is an example to many of us. There are so many times that we strive to get ahead in life for our own self or for the sake of our family. As important as those reasons are, we must not forget the less fortunate. The Bible says in Matthew 25:40, “The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

This verse clearly shows that God expects us to do for others. In Hebrews 13:2 it states, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” This verse explains to us that we may be entertaining angels unknowingly and so we have to be mindful of how we treat people.
