Naples Area Board of Realtors Gives Back

NAPLES, Fla. - May 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Naples Area Board of Realtors’® (NABOR®) members showed their commitment to the community in 2012 by volunteering over 6,000 hours and raising over $27,000 in proceeds for the following organizations and initiatives:

- National Alliance on Mental Illness/Collier County: Participated in the NAMI Walk to help support their mission of improving the quality of life of the 1 in 4 families affected by serious and persistent mental illness through education, support and advocacy.

- Collier Harvest: Participated in the USPS Canned Food Drive to support their mission of delivering millions of pounds of food to over 60 local social service agencies that serve the needy citizens of Collier County, Florida.

- Hunger and Homeless Coalition of Collier County: Donated proceeds from the annual NABOR® Family Fun Day to support their mission to facilitate solutions to prevent and end hunger and homelessness in Collier County

- Collier County Homeless Children’s Fund: Donated proceeds from the annual fundraiser at Beacon Bowl in Naples and held a back-to-school drive at the event which provided school supplies to needy children.

- East Naples Fire Department Toy Drive: Collected toys to support their mission of benefiting needy children during the December holidays and assisted with the toy distribution.

- FAR Silent Angels Project: Donated funds to this charitable organization composed of Realtors® for the purpose of providing funds, supplies and services to individuals who are making a determined effort yet are financially needy or otherwise distressed.  

- NAR REALTORS Relief Foundation: Donated funds to help with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

- Youth Haven Foundation: Donated proceeds from the 2012 NABOR REALTOR EXPO to support this residential emergency shelter for boys and girls ages 6-16 who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment.

- Lighthouse of Collier County: Donated funds raised at the annual Golf Tournament to assist the only center for blindness and vision loss in Collier County in their mission to help the estimated 14,000 local children and adults become independent.

- MANOR Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center: Donated funds to help refurbish the library for their post-hospital care residents.

- Naples Beach: Participated in the annual Beach Clean Up Day at the Naples Pier

“We believe in giving back to the community we love,” said Janice Vasquez, Chair of the NABOR® Community Involvement Committee.  “Collier County is where we live and work and we are delighted that so many of our members contribute their time doing so much good.”

The Naples Area Board of REALTORS® (NABOR®) is an established organization (Chartered in 1949) whose members have a positive and progressive impact on the Naples community.  NABOR® is a local board of REALTORS® and real estate professionals with a legacy of 60 years serving 4,000 plus members.  NABOR® is a member of the Florida Realtors and the National Association of REALTORS®, which is the largest association in the United States with more than 1.3 million members and over 1,400 local board of REALTORS® nationwide.  NABOR® is structured to provide programs and services to its membership through various committees and the NABOR® Board of Directors, all of whose members are non-paid volunteers.
