Cass Dubai hosts Joanna Shields at Women in Business event

 
LONDON - May 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Leading women in business met to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing woman in business across the UAE on Monday.

Joanna Shields, CEO of the UK's Tech City, delivered an inspirational speech about her career experience to an audience of more than 40 women from a cross section of industries.

Shields is UK Ambassador for Digital Industries and former Vice President and Managing Director of Facebook for the EMEA region.

Joanna stressed the need for women to support each other in order to do well in business, and to embrace who they are and what they stand for. She also commented that in terms of her own experience to date, saying she has always felt supported in her career and encouraged to 'think big' - and this is largely thanks to a strong pool of mentors around her.

Shields commented: "It was a privilege to speak at the Cass Business School in Dubai event and exchange experiences, stories and knowledge with so many smart and ambitious women. We all share a common commitment to inspire, nurture and help our teams and each other grow as people and as professionals. I'm confident that today's audience will have the courage and the kindness to continue leading as entrepreneurs, mothers, sisters, friends and business executives, building on their own accomplishments and on the remarkable success of the UAE."

The event was arranged by the Cass Dubai Centre, the UAE branch of City University London's Cass Business School and centre for their EMBA in Dubai (http://www.cass.city.ac.uk/courses/mba/executive-mba-in-d...), and took place at Dubai's Capital Club. It formed part of the London Mayor Boris Johnson's five day tour of the Gulf region, which was designed to forge stronger links between London and Dubai's tech centres.

Ehsan Razavizadeh, Regional Director, MENA and Head of the Dubai Centre said:

Since the inception of the Cass Dubai Centre in 2007, we have witnessed a number of leading business women graduate from our world-class EMBA programme and go on to achieve some incredible things. We hope to continue to play a key role in encouraging women in business across the Middle East."

The Cass Dubai Centre also runs Cass Business School’s MBA in Dubai, the course designed to meet the needs of business executives in the Middle East and surrounding regions. Delivered as a part time course, in a monthly block format, it is organised so that executives can continue their careers while also adding to their business qualifications.

As the course is run by Cass Business School, students will also become part of a global MBA network, giving them networking opportunities both in London and regionally.
